In the ever-changing world around us, church leaders must be able to analyze and adapt to an increasingly multicultural, secular, and global context. To meet the needs of our day, Asbury Church Planting Initiative is pleased to offer affordable, non-residential training that enables participants to learn while remaining in the context of their current ministry. These training weekends are called Institutes and they expose leaders to dynamic training in the areas of multiplying disciples, leaders, ministries, and new contextualized churches.
Consisting of five modules that are offered in one or two-day intensive formats, the Church Planting Institutes can be studied through one of our regional learning sites and typically can be completed either in one or two years depending on the availability of courses being offered. After completing all requirements, each participant receives a non-academic certificate in Church Planting from Asbury Theological Seminary in partnership with the Asbury Institutes.
Virtual Free Methodist
We are excited to announce a new upcoming Church Planting Institute in partnership with the Southern Michigan and Central Pennsylvania Conferences of the Free Methodist Church! This five-month training opportunity will give planters in these conferences the chance to receive missiologically-rich church planting training from Asbury's expert faculty. For the first time, this training is going to be offered in a virtual-hybrid format, combining the best of online learning and synchronous virtual sessions with the instructors. This new model will enable participants the greatest amount of flexibility with the least amount of travel and expenses. Each month, participants will be guided through three week-long online units before gathering together for a day of virtual sessions with the instructor on week four.
