Multiethnic Church Planting Institute
Have you ever felt called to starting a new church that takes seriously both the call to Gospel faithfulness and the Biblical message of radical racial reconciliation and unity? Such a call is as terrifying as it is exciting, and with the proper preparation it can become a reality. We have crafted the Multiethnic Church Planting Institute to help prepare women and men to answer their call and start innovative and thriving communities of faith that bridge historical divides and embody the unity we have in Christ.
This training will feature a blend of both on-demand video lectures and live plenary weekend events to create an optimal learning environment. Each month, participants will engage with online videos and discussion forums with their peers before coming together for a live, virtual event led by world-class scholars and expert practitioners. The Institute will make use of this online-live (synchronous/asynchronous) cycle for each of the seven content modules over the course of four months, from August to November 2021.
If you have felt this call to church planting and are interested in participating in this event, please complete the form below and we will follow-up with any information regarding registration for the event.
Module #1 – Missional Formation
The first module is designed to help leaders and their teams explore the nuances of missional leadership in multiethnic contexts. Through a thorough survey of the biblical narrative, participants will situate their own sense of call in terms of joining in God’s mission to the world. These missiological foundations will help leaders to articulate the spiritually formative practices necessary for faithful character development, to relate the principles of mission to their own ministry experience, and to enrich the development of a holistic philosophy of leadership within diverse contexts.
Module #2 – New Churches for a New World
This section introduces the theory and practice of planting new contextual churches. Various models and options for church planting will be discussed in conjunction with the students’ resources and gifts as revealed by their assessment results. A plan will be developed to address common obstacles in order to successfully plant new contextual churches.
Module #3 – Understanding Context
This module teaches students the importance of evaluating the context in which they minister by providing practical tools for understanding people and their values, interests, and practices in their specific area. Students will use their findings to develop specific ways in which they and their community can purposefully live out the gospel in their context.
Module #4 – Developing Models and Strategies for Multiplying Disciples
This unit introduces participants to biblical and practical foundations and tools for developing and multiplying disciples by mobilizing and empowering the laity. This module is designed to introduce participants to a biblically grounded, practical equipping discipleship based on Ephesians 4. Two major paradigm shifts are discussed: 1) from members to disciples; and 2) from solo to team leadership. Practical tools are then discussed to make these shifts.
Module #5 – Prepare and Enrich Relationship Training
Prepare and Enrich is designed to equip marriage champions, couples, and families with evidence-based skills and insights to foster healthy relationships. More than 4,000,000 couples have prepared for marriage or enriched their relationship through taking the Prepare and Enrich assessment and working with a Certified Facilitator. Whether engaged as a married or single person, this assessment tool helps transform relationships.
Module #6 – Engaging the World
With a focus on building faithful communities of God’s Kingdom, we will study evangelism by exploring the dynamic relationship between God’s Word and God’s World. Through this lens, we will help leaders and their teams recognize how they can build authentic congregations that embody the message of the Gospel.
